Peter, Meet Your Sisters

StephensSiblingsMeetBlog-1.jpg

I was so excited when I got the text that baby Peter was about to leave NICU to head home and meet his big sisters.  The girls directed their excited energy by showing their favorite toys to their grandparents and watching home videos on the oh, so captivating iPhone.

There was a sweetness in watching Peter's sisters "discover" him for the first time - his tiny fingers and toes. Their go-to when he started whimpering was to stick their tongues out to cheer him up.

Of course, first on the agenda was sharing a puppy toy!

They wrapped Peter up in his Dad's baby blanket.  So sweet!

Meeting your brother for the first time is a big deal, and Grandma cuddles help cap it off perfectly.

Capturing Peter's Birth

When Nancy (baby Peter's sweet mama) asked me to photograph Peter's birth, my first reaction was along the lines of "hmm, are you sure?"  After all, this wouldn't just be my first time photographing a birth, but also my first time witnessing the birth process.  Now on the other side, I'm so glad Nancy entrusted me with documenting her labor and birth of her third child.  Observing her calm nature whenever I'm around her encourages me away from worry and anxiety.  I was inspired to see such a strong, compassionate woman amidst her literal labor of love.  Nancy, thank you.

These photos are more documentary-like in style.  I wanted to be a fly on the wall and capture things as they happened naturally.  I hope these images do this family's story justice.  I can't wait to be back in the delivery room to photograph another precious baby entering the world.

Psalm 127:3

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
