Memories: Take the Picture

I was the girl in high school who carried her camera with her pretty much everywhere (if the occasion allowed for a purse). Going to dinner after church with friends? *snap*  Having a spontaneous dance/sing-off to the tune of High School Musical? *SNAP SNAP SNAP* (there is also video evidence in my vault).  Did my friends make fun of me sometimes for taking so many pictures?  Sure, but I knew I'd be glad one day when we looked back on the good ole' days.

Now that I'm married, I'm trying to be just as cognizant of opportunities to capture special details, like my favorite cozy corner of our first home.  I've found it's easy to forget the every day details that once made up the special moments we shared with our family and friends.  Maybe it's the way the sun shined in your favorite room at 4:00 PM, or in our case, a nest of sweet little birds chirping outside our bedroom window that woke us up on Saturday mornings for a few weeks.  Those are the kind of things I hope to capture with my trusty camera and journal in this first year of marriage and beyond.

Around These Parts: Spring 2015

There's been some excitement around these parts lately, and I wanted to share it!

My brother got engaged to his girlfriend!  I am psyched to welcome her to the family.  She has a quick wit, tender heart and impeccable taste in stationery (and men!).

Derrik and I have been trying to take advantage of our deck and some nice weather by cooking out more on the weekends.  I love how everything tastes better when you grill it.  I'm glad I married a fellow foodie.

We visited Louisville, Kentucky for the first time.  We took a tour of the campus at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  The grounds are beautiful, as you can see! ^^

We visited family at the Mississippi Gulf Coast for Memorial Day.  Those tacos were as good as they appear.  They had some sort of Sriracha Ranch sauce concoction.  Whatever it was, I need to replicate it!

I've been getting excited about the prospect of blogging more often.  Here's a snap from the batch of photos of my trip to Varenna, Italy - an area of Lake Como.  It feels good to go through pictures and pick out your favorites.

Thanks for reading!
